Hmmm . . . I don't know if I've tried that - don't recall.  I'm still in the Great Seattle Blackout with no access to the main system.  I do have a discman running to a Vinnie amp in the second system so I have no lights but plenty of music.  Bring on the Bach!

It doesn't look like the lights will be back on until at least Tuesday or Wednesday.  They haven't even started on the carnage right by our house.  A tree fell across power lines and sheared three power/light poles, pulling them straight into the street.  Roads are closed all over too, though some of the main streets are getting put back together and I'm sure we'll be back to normal living and listening by the end of the week.

Craziness.  Some people locally are comparing it to Katrina.  That's a total load of crap - it's been inconvenient and some people have been pretty cold but c'mon.

Yes, I've done relief work in Gulfport Mississippi and if you haven't seen it firsthand you can't imagine what it's like.  I've seen a lot of devastation from hurricanes etc. before and this was unreal.

Hope they get you some juice again soon.

I had a feeling you would get something rigged up for some music, Mike! I had to resort to my old boom box. Finding D batteries was an adventure though! My power came on last night, hope you get your soon!

is your connection problem solved?
FWIW: try a behringer ultramatch SRC...connect the Tact via AES to the behringer and the behringer to the Altmann Dac via Toslink or RCA and your problem should be solved...

He sold his TacT.

He should have sold the Altmann Dac and installed Aberdeen/mauimods TacT DAC cards.

Have you compared the two?

well...we agree to disagree on this...
I have heard the TacT and Lyngdorf products and they did not push any of my buttons...

I heard Mike's Tact DAC in action. It pretty much sucked. Especially compared to the other DACs on hand.

Yep, sold the TacT and on to computer-based room correction.  Since my primary source is a modded SB, this was a logical direction.  I considered the Aberdeen cards and decided against, not as a knock on them or their value, but more because I wanted to go back to a tubed preamp.  Being able to get my correction fix at the computer finalized the deal.

There were many factors that went into this decision and it was made over months, not days.  I replaced with a Lamm LL2 Deluxe on Tvad4's recommendation and it is a Truly Superior Piece, especially at the price used.  With the Sig. 70s it's like a SET preamp.

Even without room correction the sound is better than it's ever been.  Once I get the room correction figured, watch out world.
