Hi,

I know Greg Ball has been banned from this forum but I would like to say that his SKA skpre might be a good option as buffer between the SB and power amp for people with mismatches....  with and without volume control....  It's a lot cheaper than the Burson buffer and might give people more flexibility in terms of using it as pre or as buffer.

I'm planning on trying it myself ( I''ll just make an integrated of my trends ta-10)    I'll write something about it once i've tried it.  It got some good reviews over at the diyaudio forum :D

Still very happy with my SB ,  but comparing it to my dads beefy Wadia 23 output , there's is a big difference in dynamics and bass .  I do think the SB is a bit more natural.   Hope the Skpre will help !

I've been considering doing the same thing, so i'll be very curious to hear your results. Are you planning to build it with or without the volume control? I discussed using the skpre with greg a while ago, and the conclusion we came to was to use a fixed gain of 6db with an increased input impedance since the sb3's DAC is designed for a minimum 10kohm load and i'd rather err on the side of caution.

Don't know when I'm going to do it,  but surely will !  might be in a couple of weeks  :thumb:  The plan is to use it with a volume control. ( don't trust the SB / white noise)   My SB is modified by boldercables, it has a cap coupled, passive output.... Yours is to?   Thing is,  I'm going to do some mods on my t-amp and want to know what the improvements are before doing anything else (might consider another better amp)
