What are my options for improving stock PS for SB3?
« on: 16 Mar 2007, 07:21 pm »
HI all,
HOpe this is the right location for this request.  I have a stock SB3 and I remember reading threads a while back on improvements to the Power supply.  What are some good choices for the PS improvements?

Purchase one  or build one ( if it's relatively simple )?

And for those that have switched, can you really 'hear a difference'?

Thanks,

Rob S.

Rob, have you searched the forums?  There's a bunch of info about sb power supplies.

That said...there's a lot of ways you can head...from the mild (stock ELPAC) to the wild (Bolder Cables Ultimate Mk. II).

They all yield a difference from the stock switcher...the degree of difference depends on the resolution of the rest of your system.

Rob,

Here is a link from the Square Circle on various Squeezebox links on AC.

If you go to the last post on page one, you'll find mine where there is another link to the PS discussions.

Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, just getting lazy and wanting some quick answers without lots of research.   I'll do some reading now.

With a $300 device, can't justify doing Bolder "macDaddy" PS.  But could maybe rationalize doing up to $150 or so.  View it as some decent interconnects.
