HDMI Splitter
« on: 3 Mar 2007, 09:16 pm »
Do any of you know of a 3->1 or 4->1 HDMI splitter that also has a coaxial or optical digital out? I know Sherwood Newcastle makes a 2->1 with that feature, but I really need 3->1 or 4->1. Thanks in advance. My 5 channel integrated amp is a bit antiquated... it doesn't have any HDMI ports. It definitely has to go but finances won't allow for a new one for a while :(.

Why do you need the coax/optical out?  If you can figure a way to get by without that, Monoprice has a 5X1 switcher for under $90.

Or are you really looking for a splitter so you can output HDMI from one source to two displays?  I think Monoprice has one of those too, but it is more expensive.

My problem is I'm using an old integrated amp in my HT and it doesn't have HDMI in's or out's. I was thinking it would be best to have an HDMI switcher that not only switches the video signal but also outputs a single digital audio wire separately from the HDMI so I can have one digital audio wire going into the integrated. Obviously the best thing would be to upgrade the integrated, but I decided to go for a more expensive PJ and thus don't have the disposable income to get the new receiver... at least not for 6 months.

Might just be cheaper to get a new integrated...
