No...if you look at the back of the unit, there is a round output connector (3-pin) to the right of the RCA analog outputs, and to the left of the power supply umbilical connector. It is labeled as "din". This is a fixed-volume output that bypasses the volume control inside the Opus 21. The pin-output on the DIN is compatible with DNM and Naim components, and both DNM and Audience are among the companies that make DIN-RCA interconnects.
As far as "taking the fuzz out", I did find that the DIN output was slightly clearer than the RCA output, but that it wasn't any different-sounding than the XLR output running to a balanced preamp.
