Please don't flame me, but I really dug "Somewhere in Time" with the late Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour (who is hot beyond belief ).  I think it was the time travel aspect that really got my attention...yeah, that's the ticket.   :?

"Devil wears Prada"

I read some article somewhere that this movie was unusually popular among men, because men are apparently more subject to unreasonably demanding bosses...

Well I saw Prada for one reason (and because the ticket was free). That reason was this.

Turned out that the movie wasn't too bad. But they put Anne in some rather unattractive outfits.  :(

"Fools Rush In" wasn't too bad... (plus it didn't hurt that I got it for free)

Until you start going to foreign chick movies with subtitles, you don't have to question your orientation.

Hey, I enjoyed Amélie!  :green:

Nobody liked "Thelma and Louise"?  Or "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues"?  (Actually, I didn't see the latter.  I only read it.  But I have to imagine it counts as a "chick flick").

Here's a weird candidate, though.  A friend of mine claimed that "Tomb Raider" had been overwhelmingly popular with young girls, and had been embraced by portions of the feminist community for celebrating such a powerful female character.  I found this weird, as I imagined the movie was designed to attract throngs of fifteen year old boys anxious to watch Angelina Jolie kick the backsides of whatever they are that get their backsides kicked, whilst she wears an assortment of cleavage-revealing, loin-stirring outfits.  It seems I was wrong.  Either way, I don't imagine I missed much.

I could see young girls like Tomb Raider.  But I thought it was a crappy movie.

I second "Amélie"  Love it, and will add "A very long engagement" with the same actress.

Thelma and Louise was one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen....I still can't believe how incredibly stupid the ending was  :duh:

Love Actually was a GREAT flick....one of my all-time favorites.

I loved both Amelie and A Very Long Engagement....and that chick is very hot :)

Titanic didn't make this list. http://www.filmsite.org/greatchickflicks.html I haven't seen it because I detest the singing in the movie.  I wouldn't have guessed Aliens as chick flicks.  :o
yeah, kind of a strange list... :) From that list I loved "Whale Rider" and "Rabbit-Proof Fence", two good movies set in Oceania about the contrasts between the new/old western/ancient cultures of those lands. Really emotional and strong movies.
