FryKleaner Pro Kit part question
« on: 26 Sep 2006, 02:24 pm »
Jim,

Ordering parts for this kit, and I noticed that the part 511-2N3904 is now unavailable/obsolete due to the new ROHS restrictions  :nono:. Is the transistor with the part number 512-2N3904TA an acceptable alternative from Mouser  aa?.

Do you recommend changing C4 to 100uf for extended bandwidth?

Thanks  :thumb:,
Anand.

You can use any 2N3904 they have in stock.  Damn part numbers change all the time.  Best to leave C4 as-is, otherwise a bit of 120Hz ripple gets into the high gain section.

Jim,

Thanks for the quick reply. An excellent kit, does a world of good for us tubeophiles who need to break in stuff without using up too much of a tube's life. If I had to vote for Accessory of the year, it would be the FryKleaner Pro kit  :D

I'll be ordering it today or tomorrow, just as soon as I figure out if I need anything else from Mouser for my other projects...

Look for an upcoming review once I'm done breaking in my components...

Best regards,
Anand.
