Kevin,

What are you going to use for the case feet?

Any chance you would know where to source/buy one with a milled aluminum finish?  (I would like to attach a pic but I'm unsuccessful  attaching a jpg image into the context of the message body)

thx.

marty

The ones we have sourced for our chassis are injection molded plastic with an aluminum face and rubber bumper.    The milled aluminum parts over doubled in price so we had to find a substitute.    I'm very happy with what we are using but they are somewhat proprietary.   We have a pem-nut that extends from the bottom of the case to mate with them.

I do have access to machined units if you are looking for 50 or more.   Do you have some dimensions and details on the part?

thx for the feedback.  I will only need about 20.  Planning about 5 cases this year.

I'll see what I can do with my local machinist.

You can typcially expect machine shop rates to be about $75/hr.   You can take bar stock and cut it with the endmill.   Without the right equipment it is a labor intensive process because you have to square both ends and then turn in a lathe.    After that you have to drill & tap it and then either anodize or powder coat them.    Overall the companies that have the computerized machines can pop them out at a much more attractive price but they don't want to take orders for anything less than 500 pieces.

Do you have a ballpark $$ amount that the new enclosure will cost?

Just trying to figure out approximate cost of a 4-channel UCD-180 amp I would like to put together.

Thanks!

I don't.... I'm only going to sell them as complete kits.   The target price for a 2-channel UCD180 basic kit is $600 complete.   It is a little more expensive than I could have designed them for strictly 2-channel use because the transformer, power supply & chassis are all oversized (and more expensive) relativle to what you would normally use for a 2-channel amp.

For the four channel amp you would want to use the five channel PS, 625VA transformer, softstart and four modules.   I'd say you are going to be right around $900 depending on which modules you choose and how much capacitance you want to populate.

A UCD400 based version would not cost much more.   Just the additional cost the modules.

Build time is only a couple hours.   It all bolts together with the only soldering required being on the XLR & RCA inputs.    The rest is crimped Faston connectors.

Final parts are arriving into customs this week.  I have more work to do on documentation but we should have availability within the next couple weeks.
