I believe to solve this problem you would need to install a circuit that would disconnect the speaker outputs until the amp turns on (i.e., capacitors fully charge).  Some amps, such as NAD, disconnect the speakers automatically during power on and power off to prevent the popping sounds during power up and the winning sounds during powering off.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions. Hopefully someone else on the form has much better ideas.

You are of course turning on the amp last after the source and pre, etc.?

There is something simpler, turn your power amp off and on, only when you pre/pro is on, if you turn the pre/pro off first, you will get the pop when you turn you power amp off!

Connect a second identical amp and set of speakers wired in reverse polarity facing your existing speakers.  Turn both amplifiers on at the same time and the two pops will cancel each other out. Or at least be very reduced in volume.  In order to speed up this process build a set of remote controlled hydraulic platforms that raise and lower the second set of speakers from beneath the floor.  This way they may be lowered out of the way once the amps are turned on.

Hi I think so far John's solution is the simpler, a relay and a few parts can eliminate the problem
completely

thanks to all the guys who contributed
