Greg Ball,

you really are an odious piece of work aren't you?

Clearly the guilless inuendo "slipped" into your post says far more about your personality than about Hugh's products.

Hardly a promotion for your ethics and maybe a put-off for many.

Jeez, mate -

Have a bad trip on the weed your region is renowned for? Or your meds run out?

Or is it the paranoia that follows ... :nono:

You have a nice day.

Cheers,
Greg

What the........????

I've read Greg's post over and I just can't see what the problem is or am I missing some subliminal message.

Greg and Hugh are both brilliant amp designers and I would love to have 1% of their gift. They have different philosophies and I'm sure personalities but both design great products. I love to see these guys post as I can learn something or another avenue is opened up from a different point of view.

Mr Rabbitz, it is this line here:

Quote
I think if your amplifier sound depends on toroid material to finesse, you have fundamental design problems

The emoticon gives the game away...Basically, the subtext is "my amp has excellent power supply ripple rejection properties; you will not hear the transformer one way or another using my amps; if your amp (hugh's amp) does not have this property, then obviously it is a crap design".

I for one would prefer a world where amp designers do not hijack each other's threads; its just a tad unseemly.

I took that as a general overall comment on amps which is probably the case. I think Hugh also said the the transformer has no direct bearing on the final sound.

Hi, thanks rabbitz.

Your take on my post was exactly as intended. There was no hidden meaning or intimation. I didn't even come back to the thread until Jules PM'd me that he'd abused me. Talk about a bolt out of the blue.

Now which freakin' emoticon to use

 :peek:  :deadhorse:  :drums:

Cheers,
Greg

I took it to be a jovial remark saying that "power supply transformer core material makes no difference".  The smiley indicates a certain amount of tongue-in-cheek, and I think anyone who got their panties in a bunch over something like that is wildly overreacting.

Besides, you know what they say about arguing on the internet.

One more, if you cant find transformer sec volts for your application,
try Altronics, these guys also make amps and they stock a large range
of transformers, but expect some delay in delivery the are based in
perth

cheers
