Is there some way of having an analogue input into the Behringer and having the signal coming out from its digital connection?

I currently have the Behringer between my CD Transport and DAC and this is how I mostly listen. The DAC has a volume control. At the moment I have an integrated amp but will soon be getting a power amp (Son of Ampzilla).

I have a turntable which I would like to listen to occassionally, so I'll get a phono stage, and then ideally I would like that to feed into the Behringer (through its analogue 'in') and then get a digital signal out to go to the DAC. This way I would have a volume control and a better DAC then that in the Behringer, plus I wouldn't have to change any connections every time I wanted to use the turntable.

Is this possible?

I have tried, using various changes in the I/O menu but can't get the signal out through a digital connection.

The alternative would be to buy an Anolgue to Digital Converter unit to sit between the phono stage and Behringer. Do such ready made units exist?

The Behringer has an analogue to digital converter in it. How you use it with a second source though I don't know.  You may be able to use the outputs of the Behringer into your preamp using the dac in the Behringer which is actually pretty good.

As long as you have set the source for the digital output (on p. 2 of the I/0 menu) to anything other than the input signal displayed in the lower left (see Figure 3.21 in your manual - this will be the main or dig. in source selected on I/O menu page 1), this should work fine.  You then use page 1 of the I/O menu to choose between "Main In" for your analog source and whichever "Dig. In" (XLR or optical) you are using for your CDP.

Warner and Rich; thanks for your replies.

Armed with the knowledge that it IS possible to have an analogue input to the Behringer come out as digital, I had yet another try. It turns out that I had set up the Behringer correctly, but had not adjusted the various input and output knobs on my integrated amp properly.

Doh!

Thanks again.
