Hi Wayne,

Is the Bybee mod a plug-and-play type of deal, or does it require sending the unit in to you?

The Bybee Purifiers for the SB2 and SB3 do get installed internally. I shorten the leads on the coupling capacitors and carefully place the Purifiers inside the case. The leads coming out of the newer Purifiers (especially the Gold leads) are fairly delicate. It is easy to snap off the lead from the body.

tonyptony,

I have improved the digital mod since yours. I have now incorporated the internal switcher PS mods. This does lower the noise floor a bit more.

Wayne, PM sent.

For those of you who have any of the "older" mods and want them upgraded to the newest, latest and Greatest version, here is a tentative price schedule. This IS subject to change.

Upgrade SB3 digital only mod: $60.00 This is for the people who receive a SB3 digital only mod prior to late October of this year.

Upgrade SB3 analog only and full mod: $100.00 This price can range between $60.00 and $200.00. It depends on when your unit was modded and what upgrades you chose at the time. If you chose the "base" level it would cost $200.00 to upgrade the internal power supplies and install the Sonicap Platinums. If you already have the Platinums caps, The internal power supply upgrade would be $100.00. If your unit was modded fairly recently, but before late October, the internal switcher mod would be $60.00. I would really have to have the unit on my bench to determine to final cost.

SB2 upgrades. The older SB2 upgrades would be $200.00 for all the power supply and upgrade to Sonicap Platinums. If you already have the Platinums, the cost would be $100.00.

If any one would wish to have Bybee Purifiers installed at the time of the upgrade, the cost is $100.00 per single Copper, $200.00 per single Silver and $500.00 per pair of Gold. Copper and Silver work very well in both analog and digital circuits. The Gold is amazing in the analog circuit.

People who have battery powered SB and would like to get them converted to a BOLDER modded AC powered unit, the cost would be $200.00. You would have to buy and ELPAC and mods or Ultimate PS MKII to power the SB.

During the month of December, I will be experimenting with some outboard step-up transformers to raise the voltage output of the modded SB. If you are having trouble getting the volume you want on some tracks that are recorded at low volumes, this should be able to help you out.  Tentative price is around $400.00. That amount is subject to change.

Please contact me through e-mail or PM for more information or if you wish to schedule an upgrade.
