Need help for SET amp
« on: 24 Mar 2006, 08:19 pm »
Hi everyone,

I accidently insert the wrong pins to wrong holes of the 2A3 tube sockets. I did hear the buzzy noise out of the speaker and smoke came out from the socket. My questions are I have replaced new resistors under the sockets but when I turn on the amp the sound is normal but the tubes is getting hotter(from the damaged side) then the other tube. Is anything that I have to replace further in the signal path? Or maybe the tube is damaged? Thanks,

Tan

Hi,

I think you damaged the tube. Are you inserting the damaged tube back into the socket after replacing the resistor? :o

You might want to get a good tube and try it in the side of the amp that you inserted the worng pin and see if the amp and the good tube operate normally.

I would guess that the tube that you inserted wrong is as good as a goner. If the amp work fine after replacing some resistors as you said than consider yourself lucky.

By the way what amp and tube you are using anyway? :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:
