Well, I liked it, but I did have a lot of criticisms of it, truthfully. Some of these are problems I had with the storytelling aspects and some come from being a bit of a Trek-geek.
Firstly, the bubble-lipped guy they got to play the Picard clone didn't faintly resemble him. And Picard at that age had a full head of hair. Worse yet, if you can make Romulans and Klingons convincingly with makeup, how come they couldn't hide the five o'clock shadow on his head?
Of course, there are other problems. How many other models of Data are out there? You can't whip it out and take a leak without hitting a Soon-designed android anymore! And when Picard asked Jordie whether he could track the Scimitar, since when would he just say, essentially, "Fuck it sir, I'm stumped", and go back to his sandwich?
Sure, the movie has its flaws, but I'm just a sucker of STTNG. Unless they totally screw the pooch, I'm gonna watch it. But on the upside, it was a little edgier and more suspensefull than usual, and if some characters were basically ignored, Picard, Data & Ryker were well written. And there's some action in this one, unlike the morbidly dull "Generations". Good effects, too.
I wouldn't recommend it for non-trekkie types, and it wouldn't be the one I'd suggest you start with if you haven't seen any of the others, but I enjoyed it.
