This is a very simple task, but I cannot find any software that will accomplish it simply under OS X, and I didn't turn up anything searching the forum (or via Google). I could probably do it with Audacity, but that seems cumbersome.

Does anyone know of a Mac OS X program that will join WAV files conveniently?

If not, can someone point me to instructions for doing it in Audacity without losing any sound quality (and with the greatest convenience)?

I heartily recommend Amadeus II. The feature you're looking for is "Join Files" under the Selection menu. Just add the list of files you want to join, click OK and you're done.

Related question - does anyone know of a program to cut a file?  Or digitally fade in/out?  I have some songs that have stupidly boring beginnings/endings and want to cut out the good part of the song for iPod's sake.

If you're using iTunes, you can do that very simply within the program: select a track and Get Info, then go to the Options tab and change the Start Time and/or Stop Time of the track. I do that all the time to remove stupid studio chatter that's sometimes included on tracks in those "The Complete So-and-So" box sets. It doesn't really alter the file, just what you hear when you play it.
