I could see the potential for a much more widely attended event in the future if we convinced dealers/mfgrs well in advance to attend. Nearby folks like AVA and Odyssey - even folks like Red Wine and ACI.
Yes, there is... always potential.
I am actually very pleased that more folks didn't volunteer to setup. Given the hotel problems, having 15-20 systems would have been a disaster this year. Having only 4-5 systems was nearly ideal for the hotel this year. Following the event, there is some admin before chasing the event for next year.
I DO think there is potential for an event. Now that I have a test-drive for the event, I MAY be more daring next year. I must admit that I am also very open to anyone else who might be willing to organize and run the event. If someone else has a burning desire for organization and this event - great! If not, I have some ideas about spreading the workload.
The 1801's were sounding good with tubes.
This has little to do with the 1801s. Tubes simply sound better

. Actually, I must admit that my Golden Tube SE40SE sounded VERY mediocre before Jeff G. accomplished the modifications. My acoustic memory is fading, but I think it sounded very much like my Bryston 3B-ST. This changed dramatically after the SE40 mods. After the mods... wow!
I think... we should categorize our thoughts/feelings about many of these items topically using different header titles. I'm busy, but will start this in a few days.
