Signal Splitting 3 times for 3 subs ?
« on: 13 Nov 2005, 07:35 pm »
Hi all,

I have just acquired 2 Force subs and would like to use them in addition to my 2 ch setup.   I have an other 12" HT subwoofer for movie only.  Now with these 2 Force, I would like to use it for HT as well.
My question is can I have the signal from my Denon 2802 LFE out split 3 times for each sub with 2 F or Y RCA splitters ?.  Would there be any issue going with this approach ?

Many thanks in advance..

You should call up Bolder Cables and ask Wayne about making you a custom sub cable for your application that eliminates all of the Y-Splitters. I had him build one for me that took the single LFE out & "split" it to 4 plugs. I'd been using 3 Y's to split the signal before. And now there's no additional connectors as the Y's were taken out of the equation and it's a one piece cable instead of 4 cables w/3 Y's.

And I'd like to say that my new cable is a lot nicer than the old setup I was using. It was more than worth it to get the cleaner, tighter bass that I have now over the old cable setup.

Oris98:

Bubba966's idea of a custom cable is a good one. Multiple DH Labs Y-adapters will also work well, I've set them up many times that way and so have many of our customers.

OK You's smart guys.  You have established that it can be done, but should it be done?

If you had 3 subs on one system would you hook them all up on LFE?   Wouldn't there be a benefit in terms of balence and versatility to have one or more of the subs connected through a standard pre-out?    I thought that LFE information was spotty on a lot of disks.   Would he be better off setting the "main" speakers to "large" and throwing a sub in there?
