blown sw-12

i ordered a pair of these about a month ago, and have been slowly working on the enclosure for them.  i got them installed and working on christmas night, and just today got a chance to sit down and tune it and make sure everything was up to par.

i turned a song on, and turned it up to my normal listening volume and noticed a rattle coming from one sub.  i unscrewed the sub and took a better listen.  i couldnt hear it as much from the cone side, but when i put my ear between the spokes it was audible, then i put my ear to the pole vent and could hear it very clear.

before today i was pretty easy on them, i never turned the volume higher than i thought would be hard on them.  i didnt hear any distortion or anything the whole time.

the pair of subs are receiving about 400 watts rms, at 4 ohms.  they're each in a .8 cf sealed enclosure stuffed with 10 oz. of polyfil each.

i'm assuming its blown.  i cant hear it from the driver seat, only when i listen a foot away.  what shall i do?

Just send it back to GR Research. I'll take care of it.

If yours is defective in some way then you are the lucky first.  :(

as it is right now, i can live with it, because like most people i dont sit right next to it and listen to it.  if it gets any worse or more audible, then i'll look further into whatever needs to be done.  i just wanted to let you know what's going on with it.

You might check and see if the wire leads are touching the cone.

i made sure the wire i had running into the terminals wasnt sticking towards the cone too much, and also made sure there wasnt any tinsel lead slap going on

i dont know if i mentioned it before, but its making the noise both in the enclosure and when i pulled it out and tested it free air
