skrivis, can you tell me why you partial to the omegastar? I don't have a chance to listen to the two preamp so it will be great to know the difference between them. Thanks.

It's partly cost and convenience. There's no tube replacement with SS, and OmegaStar costs less than FetValve.
It's true that tube replacement isn't needed very often, but it's needed not at all with SS.

I'm sure that AVA's FetValve equipment is better than their OmegaStar equipment in some ways. It's probably that nth little bit more accurate. But it's also more expensive.
I feel I'm at a good position with my OmegaStar DAC, amp, and preamp. They're quite "good enough," and it's likely any money I spend on improvements to my stereo should go into speakers.
I guess I'm really just tickled pink with the OmegaStar gear. It does a wonderful job, satisfies me completely, and I'm not in any hurry to upgrade.
