Integrated

I've been thinking of picking up a used integrated to use while getting my preamp upgraded and then possibly keeping it for a 2nd system if I like it. Like everyone I want transparency, but tending toward warmth would be my preference since I think the 1801 monitors can use a bit. I don't want to spend much more than $1,000 and I've been thinking about a Plinius 8200 MkI and Sim I-3. The Plinius has more power and a phono pre (which is unlikely to be used but handy just in case). Oh yeah, a remote is a must so most of the tube integrateds are out because of this, but I'm sure there's a few contenders. The Perreaux 200i is interesting, but I doubt I'd find one in a similar price range compared to the others on my list as they seem fairly rare. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

you may want to consider a blue circle integrated amp.

I didn't think they had remotes on any of their models. Been a while since I looked though.

The Blue Circle CS Integrated has an optional remote volume control which can be added for $250.

Tough price range (at least for new/retail). Things get much more interesting at $1200 - 2000.

Remote control requirement is another real limiting factor. The Cayin TA-30 (30 wpc EL34 tubes) is wonderful.

I'm auditioning a JVC RX-ES1SL (100 wpc digital/hybrid HT receiver that retails for $300). In terms of sound quality and features it kicks the butt of my 6 year old Rotel. And of course it has a remote. Naturally build quality doesn't approach the Rotel. Again, makes for a tough price range IMO.

How about the Unison Research Unico? It has a remote and tubes in a hybrid design. Plenty of power and a bit of warmth also.

I'll second the BC recommendation. Fantastic piece, and probably the best at that price.

For the most part I prefer to buy used and there seems to be a fair amount of $2k-$3k list units in the $1,000-$1,200 range, like the Plinius 8200. The remote does eliminate a lot of good ones, but since this is for a system that will involve family members and video, it's a must.

I'd have to stretch with the remote option added in and now that I see it's 50 watts, I'm not sure that would be ideal for 1801s. Something to consider though.
