I'm with Mudcat on this one, but the point is -  the folks don't care, they have their beliefs and they want to discuss them without getting into an argument about it.  And remember; cable burn-in isn't some silly little audiophile time preoccuupier, it's a radical and genius thought process which is pushing the envelope of science out further than we've ever dreamed.  So really, it's you crazy EE wackos with your pocket protectors who are holding the field of audio reproduction back!  The cable burn-in ill ...

Right on dude!  Now that's the way to debate!

When people start debating/discussing/discovering cable technologies, I usually prefer "sitting in quiet reverence." ;)  I would hate to disrupt this process.  Our future could be at stake if the advancements aren't made.  Perhaps debunking cable technology was the real point behind 'Terminator'

Dare ye question thy holy writ of Transparent?  You sir, are truly "lost" as your screen name suggests!  I will now pray for you, lest your ears catch fire. Here take my hand, let us pray:

"Oh Lord of Cable Marketing, please hear our prayer and heal the wounded conscience of our dear brother Lost81 and his descent into madness and folly.  Strike fear into his heart with your mighty sword of advertising.  Comfort his family who no doubt spends many restlessness nights distraught over their loved one's doubt and skepticism and inevitable combustion within the pits of 99.9% Great Performance Hell.  Cast away all intelligence and reason from his mind so that he may become a pure vessel, a conduit between the ATM Machine and You.  Hear our prayer O Lord and blesseth Lost81.  Amen."

I just showed this link to my engineer buddy to get a laugh. He said subjecting the signal to a path like that is what is referred to as "stalling" the signal. Apparently that is basically what the synthetic surround sound or spacializer button would do on your HT or boombox.

Well then it's a bargain!  Hell, I paid $17,527.98 for my spatializer button back in 1998.  Anyone want to buy a used one?

Oh really?  Did he just make that up or did he do a series of serious listening tests?  Did he use The Force like normal people should?  Because if not his opinion cannot possibly be useful, much less have any scientific merit.  I bet your friend is just jealous because he is poor and cannot afford $9,800 cables.  He's a grapeless fox!  Yeah that's right, no grapes for you, you'll just have to go hunt down a jackrabbit and see how that tastes, sucka!  All any REAL engineer needs is a pair of pliers, a soldering iron and a wish.

What you fellas are missing is that the Lab is about technical discussion. It's not about promoting your own agenda, however right you may think it to be.

I agree this has nothing to do with the Lab, but man, it's entertaining!  It really should get moved somewhere (god knows where it belongs) so it can continue.

Maybe we need a new Circle.  How about, "Nathan's Rants"?  I'm not totally joking.

If that's the case then some of the more technical folks can respond to the post " The Importance of Wire" .  For the DIY folks, that post can help them improve their own equipment and lead to a better understanding of how analog circuits function.
Are you ready for some real verified, measured, and audible improvements? Does less noise pick up and greater noise immunity mean anything to anyone on this forum?

Hm, well Dan, according to your post on audioholics.com, we're not really worth your time. Why don't you take your own hint and just get lost?

I've been thrown out of better places. In any case I thought a "lab" forum was for the discussion of technical issues not pyscology. Apparently some of those folks can't distinguish between the two. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that no one has bothered to respond to my new post "The Importance of Wire" Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I think you might find that many here probably agree with you and even possess more understanding of the facts than you are giving credit, however your attitude stinks, and quite frankly it isn't very interesting to talk with a prick.

I apologize for my brief moment of optimism. I figured that if the Red Sox can win the world series after an 86 year wait that some of the folks at Audio Circle would wake from their sleep. I was obviously wrong.

Any posts discussing or referencing double blind testing in the LAB circle will henceforth be deleted. (posts discussing 5 string banjos will be dealt with in the same manner). :nono:

This is not because I don't believe in DBT, but for this population and environment, such exchanges are as fruitful as pissing into the wind.

Ray,

Please feel free to present any experiments you have personally conducted,  sighted or non-sighted. I'd be very curious as to your results. But as far as this endless Onnanism with secondary knowledge (at best), I'm not interested;  I've heard it all before.

There is a body of knowledge, both mathematical and historical, Hawthorne effect, etc.... that is a prerequisite for intellegent conversation on the subject, which I don't see on this Circle. As to why I'm doing this..... because I can, and it is the most contentious, boring and pointless area we can repeatedly explore.

For anyone who doesn't like it, take it to a more hospitable circle, ... 'and the horse you came in on'. And the majority of you haven't the vaugest idea as to what specific horse I'm referring to.
