Not in my universe!

AFAIAC, the best-sounding RCA analogue interconnects are made with solid-core 'twin-ax' ... which is:
* 2x solid-core conductors (which carry the signal and signal ground), with
* a braided shield (which, if grounded) shields the signal wires inside.

I use Belden Profibus - I think its code is 3789A.

The optimum way to ground the shield is to have a 'pigtail' of shield wire (individual strands picked apart from the braid and then twisted into one wire) which connects to the earth terminal on either the source component case or the destination case.  This way, RFI picked up by the shield has no connection to signal ground.

Andy

Agree completely. That is correct. I use mike cable here some Mogami and currently Belden 8402 neither being coax so you cannot say "coax" is the best (speeskater) as a blanket statement. Best for what? RFI rejection, sound?
Also solid core not necessarily the best either. You need to hear this in your own systems.

I do use Neotec Coax especially on Phono step-up trannies it has to be quiet but the Mogami works very well too.

When I make these cables up twin twisted pair Mogami with a served shield  or a braided shield the Belden ,  I only connect the shield at one end. Actually I have read "served" shield (spiral close wires) is better than braided shield better coverage.

I have Wywires here un-shielded litz configuration in tubes completely different design and the above will beat them.
Look at the prices!!!!! Choose carefully try things ,read, been at this almost 2 years.

I use Mogami as well as I believe shielding from RFI and EMI to be important and I don't hear any adverse effects at all. And yes, look at the prices!
