added Phono bp1.5, all sound distorted...

HI James,

HI James,

After a long period, say 5 years, I've  once again added my bp 1.5, and started playing a disc (the chosen input also Disc) . Sound was all way down, and could only hear some muffled bass sounds, with just a hint of the music out of my speakers. All above sub bass seem filtered.
Listening through the headphone amp works wonders.

No clue as to what's happening, I've tried turning up the bp26, resulting in frequent clipping of the 28b's.

disconnecting the bp1,5 again didn't solve the issue, all sounds horrific right now.

What to do?

So you are saying the Phono stage works fine when listing to the BHA through the Tape out of the BP26?

Thats a new one on me  The tape out is not through the volume control on the BP26.

thanks James, I've done so.

Only thing i can see on the Bp1.5 is that the screws seem a bit rusty. Hope thats not the case inside... causing a fuse to blow or something like that.

What would be the ideal settings on the dipswitches for a Stanton II D81S MM cartridge.

cheers,
Marius

What is strange is if it works OK on the headphone amp then the output from the Phono stage is correct.  The fact that the output from the BP26 to the amplifier and then the speakers is distorted makes no sense

What does the Stanton want as a load in PF?

James, I wouldn't know, i hope to find out somehow, or maybe one of our fellow Acc-members would be able to assist.

it does not make sense indeed, worked perfectly till yesterday.... Added the bp1.5 just now, and all inputs sound distorted.
could the bp15 have blown something? Volume was turned down to 0 before changing anything, so no mistake on that.

Turning the volume up doesn't really make much noise, but does clip my 28b's frequently, never saw that before

Great thank you.

2 main issues:
1- 275 seems a lot more than max 196 in the bp manual, though it worked before
2- could this have blown the bp26, (and what to do) without interfering with the output to the BHA1 connected through the tape out.

Cheers,
Marius

Mike, James,

Seemed the only culprits were the ESL63’s…. found my old Kef 102’s and connected them. Et voila, all is well again.

How i could have tripped my esl is beyond me, but apparently i did.

Thanks for your quick response. Seems i need those Signatures sooner than later……
