« on: 29 Jan 2014, 04:57 pm »
Does this unit use usb power for anything at all?  i.e. can a usb cable with no power be used?  Thanks

Hi

It only uses the USB power to detect that a USB cable is being used.

So would it be ok to run a cable with no power?  Would the usb light not illuminate?  Thanks

No you you need a powered cable otherwise the BDA will not detect the connection.  But the BDA is not using the power from the USB cable to process the signal it has its own internal independent analog and digital power supply.
