This thread has been edited and some posts were moved to the Intergalctic Waste forum at the request of James Tanner for the sake of clean up.  If a post looks out of place, that is the reason.

Jethro, as a moderator, you will see the "x" on all posts in this forum, but non-moderators will only see it if theirs is the last post in the thread.  Once their post has been responded to, they can only edit and not delete, but you can...

Please do not delete posts, but move them to the intergalactic waste section.

James T,

How would you rate the performance of a B100 as compared to a BP25 + 3B-SST?

Hi Nico,

The B100 SST is essentally a new 2B SST amp and the BP25 preamp. The only difference is that we have developed a new "digitally controlled Analog" volume control for the B100 while the BP25 uses a standard stereo analog volume pot.
The 2B SST can deliver about 120 watts while the 3B SST can do over 180 watts and deliver more current. I would say the choice is one of power required given a specific speaker and volume level required.

James:

What is the harmonic spectrum like on the B100? Specifically, what are your measurements for each of the low-order through high-order harmonics?

Hi;

Thanks for your inquiry. The distortion spectrum on the 2B SST is much like a preamplifier, in that it displays very little second, a tiny amount of 3rd, and the upper harmonics are negligible.  The values of the harmonics are very low, in the range of -95dB or less for the third and second, below -100dB for any others even at 20K full power. The harmonics are difficult to discern from the low noise floor at frequencies or power levels below that point.

This is in keeping with Bryston's philosophy.  We feel music should be relaxing and emotionally fulfilling to listen to. For that reason we make every effort to make sure the signal is clean and non-aggressive, with essentially linear amplification circuitry that delivers vanishingly low distortion, with almost no upper harmonic content.

I hope the above is helpful, but please let us know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for your interest in Bryston audio components.

Sincerely,
Chris Russell

Has anyone heard the new B100 yet?

I'd appreciate any comments.
Thanx

My apologies to everyone waiting for B100's. We started shipping about 10 days ago and have about 40 units out there now.
At one point we were 208 units backordered so it is taking a while to get caught up.
All Bryston products are completely hand crafted so there is no 'big knob' I can turn up in the factory to produce more. Again my apologies but believe me it will be worth the wait - this is one great sounding integrated.
