@ SteveF:   Regarding your comment "One of the things done right here... was the way the speakers loaded the room. VSA did such a good job that I bet there could not have been more than a couple of DB variation in the entire room. Impressive and very lifelike."

The evenly distributed sound field would have been, at least in part, the result of the new VSA subwoofer/tower integration technology.  With this, the subs are placed at the rear of the listening area instead of up front with the towers.  There's a control that lets you configure them for their distance from the towers.  The result is that the subwoofers/towers work as a system to eliminate bass response nodes throughout the room.  This allows the subwoofers to provide the extremely deep bass foundation while seamlessly integrating with the towers.

I attended on Friday. I enjoyed this show much more than Axpona. There was a very friendly vibe, and both representatives and attendees were talking audio and having a good time. I made it a point to walk in every room, and spend more time in those that had good sound. VSA was playing some really good tunes. I'm not given to audiophile hyperbole. I will say that the sound was excellent, considerably better than my Chicago experience. One of the things done right here, that two other well known manufacturers of  very expensive speakers didn't do very well was the way the speakers loaded the room. Just about any high end company should be able to get an evenly distributed sound field. VSA did such a good job that I bet there could not have been more than a couple of DB variation in the entire room. Impressive and very lifelike. Staff greeted people and explained the system. I didn't get to say hi to Albert. He had quite a few people around him, all in conversation. VSA is my pick for best of show in the price no object class. I just wish a smaller system could have been placed in another perhaps shared room. Great presentation guys.

My experience exactly. I enjoyed the show and agree there was a good atmosphere. I stayed a while in the VSA room; Albert was there but he was always talking to someone so I didn't get the chance to say hi. Looks like a popular guy. I saw that the VR-22 was on static display. I agree it would have been nice if they could have set them up to play in a smaller room.

VR-22 was hooked on Sat evening by an attendee request. It sounded remarkably good for the price.
Of course, placing it side-by-side to Universe was unfair for the little guy.
As for the universe, I went through all the rooms on Sat and Sun and Universe was the best sound of the show IMHO, especially on Sunday when it was hooked up to a 30K CD-player.

We are all in agreement. I wish I had the opportunity to revisit the show over the weekend. Just curiosity on my part, but who had the second best sound of the show? My choice was Zu Audio. (Which surprised me as I have always preferred a much lower tweeter crossover point then they use.)

So as soon as I leave the real fun starts. Don't tell me - you broke out a bottle of fine single malt and stayed up all night listening ...
