I have made numerous calls to Oppo technical for help with this issue but I have not gotten a satisfactory answer. It seems that my Oppo will not play a YouTube video without an unbearable amount of stops. It is like it tries to buffer and will play for 1 second then stop for 3-4, then play for 1 second and stop for 3-4. It will do this continually until I stop out of frustration. I have changed the ip address 3 times under the direction of Oppo tecnical and have tried using the wireless connection and the wired connection with absolutely no difference. The guy with Opp had me to do a connection speed test which is built into the Vudu software that comes on the player and that showed that I have a top self connection. When I play a Vudu video it is skip free and works great. When I play a YouTube video on my laptop using wireless (the only connection I ever use) it works perfect and does not have any issues.
So, Oppo is telling me that there is "something wrong with YouTube in my area" and that it is not the player. Oppo's premise is that since the 105 plays Vudu fine that it is not their unit or my connection. How is this possible? Does this even make sense?
By the way, I use a Motorola DVR from Comcast and the sound is off from the picture. Oppo is aware of this but does not have a remedy even though they have made "beta software" updates which I have installed. I am finding that 2 out of 3 reasons I got the unit are not functioning properly. I got it mainly for music, which it plays great.
Any thoughts on the YouTube issue?
