Is anyone familiar with these products, both claiming to solve room standing wave problems:

Leading Edge Acoustic Panels.

A more detailed explanation of how they work can be found in 'Paper 1' here.

They are 1600 x 600mm panels that cost, in the UK, £2,200 a pair. It's possible, from my interpretation of what they're saying, that one pair, hung from the ceiling centre, solves all room standing wave problems.

Click on the UK flag, then products, then second column under 'Periphery'.

It seems a pair of electric boxes and some stones judiciously placed can solve all acoustic problems. A two box set up would cost around £1,450.

As I understand it both set ups are used in untreated rooms. I'm thinking that the theory behind them both is also similar, namely affecting the movement of air molecules in the room in a such a way that standing waves and room resonances are reduced or eliminated. However, I'm not pretending to understand all about them so I ask for comments please.

Hi Hipper and all Audio Circle members.
Sorry to say, but I don't believe in the that kind of audio gadget.
Yes, I know, I have not even tried it.
But still don't believe.

I have to side with Guy. Neither of those products are likely to do what they promise, especially the second one. Legitimate acoustic products provide data showing absorption versus frequency, similar to the data on my company's web site:

Before and after frequency response and waterfall graphs are also common. This short article is mainly about home recording, but all the same principles apply to hi-fi and home theater too, as do the graphs:

I agree about the provision of some facts.

However, do you think the theory for the Leading Edge panels make any sense?

It's impossible to know based on what little is offered. Most acoustic panels operate in the "velocity domain," and that type of panel needs to be thick to work well over a wide range of frequencies. So without any actual data it's impossible to know if the theory is valid.
