Find a FirstWatt B1 or I like the passive Khozmo. Both under 300

Don't know what features you need, but the Parasound Halo P3 is a nice preamp in the $400 to $500 used range.  Balanced outputs, one pair of balanced inputs, phono stage, remote control and pretty good build quality.  I don't have one for sale, but there is one currently listed on Audiogon.

Got a B&K Pro 5 pre-amp that I would part with for $150. Original owner, almost no use last 15 years.  Does work well - have tried it out recently.  Decent phono stage.  Totally manual (no remote volume).

Don't know how low you wan to go - nice ring to that.

I also have an Anthem AVM30 processor I'm asking $500 for : would work well as a preamp (and for home theater if you wanted that extra). It's listed at the AC trading post

PM me if interested.

If your budget allows I'm suspecting that Parasound P3 would be the best preamp unit for the $, although my AVM30 would be close & give you nice extras.

I have an Acurus L-10 pre with some caps upgrades and a direct soldered power cable I might be able to let go. It hasn't seen any use in a long while. I haven't looked into going rates for these kind of units, but several years ago it would have gone for $250ish, I think.
