I just happened to stumble across this thread.
Regarding Emotiva audio.
I am a fan of theirs, and find that most of their products are great values.
Emotiva products currently in my system are two XPA-1 mono-blocks, an XPA-5 amp, two Ultra 12 subs, and (to be delivered 10/31/12) the XSP-1 pre-amp. It will be connected to my XPA-1s with their X-series XLR cables.
In the past, I have owned the USP-1 preamp, and UPA-1 mono-blocks as well. The USP-1 is good for the money, but IMO it sounds a bit too aggressive/forward in my system. The UPA-1 amps are great little monos that I wish I still had. I sold them when I upgraded to the XPA-1s.
Up next, I would like to add one of their ERC-2 CD players to replace my current Cambridge Audio Azur 340C, and to complete my fully balanced signal chain for stereo CD listening.
Good stuff for the audiophile without deep pockets.
