Youkilis is five years younger than Jeter, he should have some good years left. I think he just got off to a slow start with the Red Sox and they wanted to make room for an up and coming player.
Youk won another game for the White Sox today with a homer. The final game in a 4 game sweep of Texas Rangers (the hottest team in the game before they ran into the White Sox). Oh, also thank the Yankees for giving the White Sox Jose Quintana, today's winning pitcher and one of the best looking young pitchers (I think he's 23) I've seen in a whilt. He totally shut down the Rangers allowing only one run and two hits over 8 solid innings. He has an ERA around 2.00 and is 4-1 on the season. Today he was dominant. How could the Yankees give up on this young guy?
IIRC, Quintana never made it higher than A-ball before becoming a free agent. Hard to determine who is going to make it or miss it at that level.Let's see in a few years how things are before passing final judgement.Of course, given all the injuries on the Yanks staff, it sure would be nice to have him as an option right now. George
You are correct but he was a great minor league pitcher. Per Wikipedia: In 2011, Quintana posted a 10-2 win-loss record and a 2.91 earned run average (ERA), with 88 strikeouts in 102 innings pitched for the Tampa Yankees of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League.[1][3]I can't figure out why the Yankees let him get away. It's not like he is making anoit of money. Who knows what will happen down the road but he's been very solid for the white sox.
Why is Jeter being brought into this? George
You White Sox fan's are going to love Youk, until his back craps out on him...in the middle of a pennant race.Doc
