Some posts above, JohnR hints that a solution to this issue is in the works.  I can't say more other than I know he is concerned about all parties involved and wants to be fair to all of them.  As far as I'm concerned, he's made the decision that agents are not industry participants and can enter into any thread discussion on AC.

Therefore, on one hand I apologize that Scott had to be called out on this.  On the other I'm glad it was Scott because no one could have handled it better.  I appreciate his evenhanded and reserved responses.  And the scales have balanced, one industry participant (presently nameless) owes me a drink at Capfest this year, now I owe one to Scott.  Thank you sir, I'll see you at the bar, I believe you know where it is.

Re-opening the industry forums would certainly make a lot of people happy.

i think i made my opinion clear in my earlier posts.  yes, scott is an agent for vmps, but he was not, imo, wiolating the "spirit" of the rules against industry participation.  he was not adwertizing prices, or making repeated unsolicited posts to a thread.  he simply stated - once - that he recommends someone try a particular speaker in a particular size & price range that he thinks is great, when that someone was looking for info on speakers in that size/price range.  and, he also made clear the fact that he is an agent for that brand.  and, as scott stated, he was likely not even in a position to be able to sell anything to the o.p.

regarding scott's comment to me that i should come over and listen, as scott said, he is a buddy of mine, and he is local to me.  i have shared many tunes and food and beverage with him on many occasions over at rim's and elsewhere in the dc/baltimore area.  mebbe that was not apparent in the original exchange.

i think it would be adding a chilling effect to to a/c if strict enforcement of industry participation rules was such that posts by avid enthusiasts such as scott, who, in their love of the hobby decide to take on agency for a product or three, are discouraged from posting their opinions of said products.

if brian cheney posted to that thread, saying there is only one speaker in that size & price-range that any sane person would even consider purchasing, and it's the vmps rm30, well that would be a little different...
