Is the ability to play hi-res ALAC a design feature of the new firmware?
Is this what I need to play my hi-res ALAC?

Hi Terry,

No - this is just the implementation of a new MAX 2 and we are using a more recent version of Linux.

I am not an Apple guy, but i thought to play hi-res in iTunes you had to change the resolution setting each time you were changing, i.e., it does not sense the resolution of the music you are playing and adapt automatically.

Don't know if this helps. I keep my music in iTunes and store on HDD connected to BDP-1, but for hi-res, I keep the music on a spearate thumb drive.

Thanks mate for the help but I don't use iTunes so I can't comment.
The problem's on my BDP-1.
No sign of any fix either, ah well. At least the review in this month's Stereophile on the new Bryston processor was good.
