I'm presently building the case for the GK-1R and using sheet metal.  Was drilling holes for the DCpcb, using a regular drill bit and the holes were not round or lined up perfectly.  Started to do some filing and using a die grinder, then I came across a unibit.  This unibit is great.  You can enlarge an exsisting hole and move it's center.  Makes round holes and bevels the edge nicely.  Manufacter is Irwin I think.  Great product.  Now if I can find a nice square hole maker.

One thing is certainly true;  if you can build an AKSA in regional Australia, with our restricted tooling choices, it should be no problem in Juneau, Alaska!!

I bought a unibit from Grizzly.com when I bought my press.  I haven't actually used it yet but I look forward to it.  Irwin makes good tools.  They're sold at every Home Depot in the U.S.  (and probably Lowes)  If it's a 'hot commodity' I'll buy a slew of 'em and ship 'em to Hugh.

i was having the same issues with the holes when i came across a tool called a chassis punch. it uses a round die, a cutter nut and a bolt to tighten both pieces together.

i used the tool on 1.7mm aluminium, the only problem was the tool cracked the paint in the around the hole edges so the panels require repainting.

the punch in the photo is 1/2" and cost around $33aud, size was ok for the rca plugs and the front panel push buttons.
