Floor Vibrations

I understand that VMPS are designed NOT to use spikes. Got a question -- my VMPS Tower II SE speakers are resting on carpet and they aren't exactly stable. I can feel them vibrating while music is playing, and they wobble from the slightest touch. What do you guys recommend for stabilizing the speakers?

P.S. -- it's gotta be a WAF friendly solution.

Thanks.

How is a speaker designed with or without spikes?

Conventional wisdom says spike on stable/rigid floors (like concrete) and float if on bouncy/soft floors (wooden joists/plywood).

I'd try hemispheric silicon door bumpers between the bottom of the speakers and a larger base that you could spike.

Because of the way the PR is loaded/coupled to the floor.

Either add a larger base plate or replace the bottom base plate with a larger one. The original RM40 also had a narrow base plate, narrower than the speaker which made them a little unstable. The new style has a base plate as wide as the speaker itself. The wider the base plate the more stable the speaker, but the base plate must be securely attached to the speaker.

Good idea. I'll try that. Thanks.

Take a look at the picture sticky, there are pictures of both the old and  the new style.

I like the outriggers on these LS9's.

Any ideas on how to make them?

Herbies products work very well.  BTW is your room over a basement ? if so reinforce the floor with a plank and Lolly colums or 4x4.
