The TBI Magellan VIIIsu, a passive subwoofer, is very musical and fast, fast, fast.
It can serve well as a home theater sub as it does go deep and play loud.
However, no sub at anywhere near this price range can blend so seamlessly with Quads, Maggies, ribbons, and other very fast speakers. Just type "TBI" in Audiogon's Forum section and you will find many references to rave reviews of several TBI models by many review sites like, 6moons, Stereo Times, and Dagogo.
People uniformly praise TBI subs for their speed and musicality. And TBI subwoofers have garnered several awards, as well as found their way into many reviewers' systems.
I will, also, soon, be listing for sale the excellent stereo, or mono, NHT X2 active crossover, which is currently available, now, with the VIII for an additional $250, if you wish.
Just add a bridged (or mono) amp and you have a true audiophile-quality system. The X2 has balanced as well single-ended inputs and outputs. So, you have great flexibility in what you choose to use with it.
Alternatively, one could use this sub with another VIIIsu for true stereo bass.
I'll even throw in a one meter Acrotec (now Acrolink) cable to run from the crossover to your amp, if you buy both the crossover and subwoofer, together.
I need to raise money to replace my turntable, and, so, am paring down my system to raise cash.
Price for the VIII with the X2 and cable is $725.00
I accept PayPal only. No additional fee.
No international sales.
