The RP-1 is a record player, not a turntable. With the amount of run-out in the horizonatl plane, and the factory supplied warp in the platter it would be impossible to set a correct VTA regardless of arm. The amount of wow due to the subplatter being out of round measurable in fractions of an inch vs mills has the speed running all over the place. Tapping the plinth during play can set off drastic amounts of acoustic feedback.  It is the embodiment of a cheap (toy) turntable.

Thanks for posting your review. The platter wobble was due to poorly set main bearing?

There's no excuse for that, even with an inexpensive record player.

The issue may comes from the pivot or from the bearing. It could be due to a shock during transport.
I will contact the Rega support.

So why write a review of a defective product?

We occasionally get products that are damaged in shipping. (honestly, I'm surprised more stuff doesn't get damaged in shipping)  We send them back and get components in proper order. 

Somewhat irresponsible unless you are reviewing who takes the most care in shipping.

Please don't let Tonepub's comment deter you from following up. In the past some reviews took product off the shelf rather than use specially selected samples from a manufacturer that might not be representative of what the consumer actually gets. You really don't know if this was damaged in shipping or defective.

Having specially made product sent to reviewers, used to be prevalent in this business. It probably still is. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts about all this, after it's sorted out. It will probably meet your expectations, but please let us know.
