Can I assume the X-LS Encore's tweeter will leapfrog the A/V-1 tweeter?

Yes. The Encore tweeter is one of the best dome tweeters available.

Where do you get the kits for the X-LS?

You can get them by calling GR Research and ordering them.

So out of curiosity, I measured the resistance of my X-LS and my Acoustic Research bookshelves to see the difference.

X-LS: 7.3 Ohms
Acoustic Research: 3.8 Ohms

This really surprised me, because I assumed the brick and mortar cheap speakers would be 8 ohm speakers.  Now I'm wondering if the difference has anything to do with why I need more power to drive the X-LS speakers for the same relative dB.

At the same volume setting your Acoustic Research speakers are getting twice as much power.

For the back I chose some heavy duty binding posts.

Your finished X-LS speakers look very nice. Good job!  :thumb: What type of finish did you use on them?
Also, since they have had time to break in more do you think they sound better now than they did at first?

Thanks, it's just textured spray paint covered with satin black spray paint.

They sound awesome!  Best sounding speakers I own by far.
