Thinking of upgrading my Emotiva amp & preamp to AVA T-8 pre and 600R amp or maybe used Mcintosh. The Emotiva gear sometimes sounds too (tinny/bright).

Any comments (good or not) on the AVA T-8 and 600R combination would be appreciated.

Also my speakers are Songtower RT and a pair of Rythmik F15SE subs.

If you like tubes I don't think you can go too far wrong with that combo. I have the std Song Towers, orginally driven with an Omega 250 & T-8, and it's a fine pre. That system now driven by a FetValve 550 & Ultra pre combo, which was definetly a step up. Haven't the funds to upgrade to the 600R at this time, though a friend just sent his 550 in for it. There may be a person or two that has that specfic pairing, but I don't think you'll find anyone who's been disappointed with the T-8 (now runs my office system). And any upgrade from the 550 is bound to be sweet. At the very least it's worth checking out to see if it meets your tastess, you can always return.

You will be making a huge step up in sound and performance with the ava pream and amp.  You will add warmth to the sound if thats what you are looking for.

I think it would be helpful for AVA to start a new thread like they have with the Vision DAC and other new products that announces these new amps and details their prices, features, etc. etc.

I will start a new thread about the 600R and 400R amplifiers very soon.  We just wanted to get a bit more time beating the xxxx out of our first two production units before we were ready to start shipping.

They are behaving perfectly so we will have more to say about them shortly.  Several orders in house already.
