Vintage Shure V15-type III on VPI Scout?
« on: 29 Jul 2011, 12:04 pm »
I recently scored a VPI Scout in an auction for under $1k.  I have a Dynavector 10x5 that I will be using, but I've also got a V15 laying around.... is the mass of the VPI arm too high for the high-compliance V15?  Can it work in the VPI?

Hi,
Assuming you have the VPI arm, yes it should work.

Certainly try them both, but know that the folks at VPI are big on Dynavector carts. I got a Scout back a month or so, had a few email exchanges with VPI which had me headed towards the 10x5. Then I also picked up a another VPI higher up the model line instead and went with a DV 20x2-l instead.

Funny, I had an old V-15 with little use I was going to try, but when I pulled it out of storage I found the diamond had come off the stylus, pity. If you do try the Shure I'd be interested in hearing your results.
