Optimum Partition Size for BDP1?
« on: 29 Nov 2011, 01:46 pm »
Hi,

Since I am on the verge of buying a 2 or 3 tb My Book Studio, (with USB 2 to play to BDP1 and 800 Firewire to load from the MAC), I would like to ask you whether there would be an optimum partition-size for the BDP1. fat32 can have max partitions of 8 tb I believe?

Would this be very convenient for the BDP1 or would it be better to have the My Book partitioned in smaller virtual drives. And would it recognize those?

Thanks,
Marius

Marius,

Chris says - are you thinking of using both interfaces at once or loading just using Firewire? Chris feels multi-partition drives seems to slow things down on mount side.

I was thinking of just loading using firewire. But not sure, as there seems to be some debate about the speed-advantages.

The multi partition question: if you can confirm that 3tb can be read by the BDP without problem, and is fine in terms of speed, I have no need for that. Had heard that fat32 posed some size limitations, that's why I wanted to be positive in that respect.

HDD's are getting more and more difficult to order as we speak....But just now I stumbled on this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&A=ShowProduct&Q=&sku=830635&is=REG
 2TB bus powered!
Amazing really.

Thanks!

There is a bunch of message text included in your link making it non-working.
