I am using Super 5's in a near near-field setup, in support of both my flat-screen TV and my music system. There are doorways compromising my space as well as the TV, so I listen mostly in a six-foot triangle formed by the Super 5's and me. I find it immediate and yet this arrangement provides a solid stage wider than my speakers, which are 6 feet apart and 7 feet from my head.
I am using all tube electronics(phonostage, Parafeed linestage, and 2A3 Parafeed SET) built by Bottlehead Customs using all-MagneQuest iron and cobalt trannies. You can find my pieces in the gallery section on my page here. I use both an Oppo player and my MacBook Pro as sources in addition to my vinyl rig. Space issues are not important in my setup.
Incidentally, I had Louis build my Super 5's with side-firing ports instead of rear-firing. I find this works well for my setup.
Building T-line subs at present, but if they don't work well enough I will order Louis' Deep Hemps.
Cheers, Hank
