Oh yes, the most obvious improvement was imaging became more defined and focused in a deeper more 3 dimensional soundstage. The felt can easily be removed.
IMO everybody should try this simple little tweak. There's a reason why some manufactures (those that are in the know) do it. A tiny little bit of felt picked up from the dollar store and the few minutes it takes to apply is nothing compared to the pay off.
