Hello all
I've been trying to exit this hobby on an up-note with things changing for the worst economically.  Cutting back on the capricious spending that has guided me for the last 20 years has caused me to look at less exotic equipment.

I'm proud to say that I own a pair of AMP-1 monos and along with that are the Emotive Audio Sira preamp, Shahinian Obelisks speakers, CEC belt-drive transport, 47Labs Progression NOS DAC, InSound Ribbon interconnects and LAT speaker cables. And this is where it ends.

The amps came about when I was telling a friend I had assembled a system that I was sure I could live and was looking into a Threshold T-200 or maybe a PASS X150 for amps.  He suggested the AMP-1 monos - for the second time.  He first brought them to my attention a year ago but I was into the SET/High-efficiency thing at the moment and what he was suggesting just wasn't audio to me.

In my mind, these amps were not going to work and after listening for 1 hour I still had doubts.  Keeping the break-in time in mind I put the CD player on repeat and did some lawn work.  After 8 hours there was a change.  The mids and highs were sweeter but the bass still seem undefined but definitely deep.  When I changed the brand of rectifier in my Emotive preamp, the bass took form.  Instead of having plumby bass I have bass with growl.

In conclusion, this is a good amp and works well within the context of my system and I have had some of the best sonically.  Those lucky enough to find a pair - don't hesitate.  Good job Ryan.

Best regards,
Fonz

I have a modified pair of Amp-1's that I might be selling in a week from now.  They have been modified by Red Dragon and have power switches, additional dampening material, and I think different caps.  I would need to get about $700 for the pair.  I have a set of Channel Islands coming and if they are better my Red Dragons go up for sale.  I can't afford to keep both.

RDA,

Looks cool. You might want consider keeping them in stock for a lot longer this time around, as the price seems right and many fellas are warming up to Class D...
