If you can DIY and don't need gain you should take a look at Gary Dodd's (Dodd Audio) battery powered buffer, it is really good!

•$199 remote control kit
• $60-$80 battery + smart charger
Double check.......? yes, definitely doable and first class sound if it sounds like it's big brother.

My soldering skills are NON existent and I managed to get most of it in few hours.
If it was too challenging and not "dummies friendly", I wouldn't have it in Cheap and Cheerful".
