I wanna share with other Bryston owner my experience with my BCD-1 B-100SST combo.
Reading a lot about unbalanced connection I decided to add audio isolator made by Jensen transformers. http://www.jensen-transformers.com/iso_aud.html
To me it helps me to avoid degradation caused by unbalanced connection.I don't say it is placebo effect as I ask different people about what do they think. If I have to chose which way to go I would buy BP-26 and 3B-SST or 4B-SST or the best 2x7B-SSTsq.
So this black box which cost me 142$ saves me a lot of money and trouble and gives me an endless hours listening. If you experience ground loop you can try those black boxes.
Enjoy Bryston products as they are really master piece of audio technology.

At $4200 you might want to consider the 4B-SST2 -- it's not that much more money, but it is alot more amplifier.
I own one, and it is amazing.

Yes, combined with the 4B-SST2, BP-25 (w/MPS-1), and a BDA-1, the PSB Stratus Gold-i sound great!

For those interested in more details (and believe this sort of thing makes any real difference);

They're wired up with 8 feet of 10 gauge Belden 5T00UP speaker cable, w/ locking banna plugs. Interconnects are all balanced -- Canaire L-4E6S star-quad mic cable, with neutrik gold plated XLR connectors -- total length through those is 120 cm. (All cables from bluejeans cable -- these guys sell pro quality cables at reasonable prices.)

The source is a Mac Mini, connected to the BDA-1 with a 3 foot toslink from bluejeans cable. All the music is encoded with apple loss-less compression.

I had a chance to audition the B100 a couple of weeks ago. This is the amplifier I want to purchase for my wife in the summer. The B100 is an awesome sounding amplifier - no surprises here. I think the B100/BCD-1 will be a great system for her.

Hello al,

Good question, one that I never considered until now for sure. I am looking at picking up this system for my wife to have in her room. I was looking at the B100/BCD-1 combination for her. I do not know if she would make use of a d/a converter. At this time, I do not use one myself and know very little about their use - what would be the benifits of using a d/a converter in her application. Any suggestions that you can offer me will be welcome.

Thanks.

Be well...

The B100 has a very good DAC with 4 inputs. Your wife could connect the digital out from a modest CDP (like one of the reasonably priced Oppo range) and the CDP will sound much better than it would standalone. She could also connect a wireless streamer (Squeezebox) into one of the DAC inputs and improve the sound over the stock DAC.

hi, Laundrew!

Denjo is right. the B100's d/a converter has 4 inputs (2 optical, 2 coax). technical speaking it won't do the 192. it "only" goes up to 96. but i assume that your wife is not too crazy about technical specifications as long as the unit works troublefree and looks good (made my own experiences with my sweetheart). so what i am trying to say is that you can pimp other digital sources at a moderate price compared to the price of a new BCD-1 and/or a new BDA-1. and it is a "one piece" solution...

Wow :icon_surprised: food for thought - thanks both for the input. Correct al, she wants something that has good sound and looks good. Never considered another digital source other than a BCD-1. I must talk with her and see what she would like.

Thanks again  :D

And....Be well
