Thank you. I was able to find and import the art missing for the AIFF files, but this process doesn't seem to work for CDs brought in as wav files. Is there a way around this?
Not really. When you tell iTunes to 'Get Album Artwork', it will import the artwork for .wav files
if it is found in the online Gracenote Internet database. This data is then stored in your local iTunes database, not in the file itself. (The other file formats store the artwork and tags in each file's header.)
However iTunes has not provided a method for storing .wav file album artwork in the local iTunes database if it is not found on the Gracenote Internet database.
A (weak) work-around I use is to make a low-bitrate .mp3 duplicate copy of the first song of the album, then drag the artwork into that selected song's artwork viewer. The artwork will only appear in the artwork viewer for just that one song, but it
will appear as artwork in the Cover Flow view for
all songs in that album. I then uncheck the duplicate .mp3 copy of that first song so that it will not play.
