Cracking noise from 9B SST
« on: 2 Nov 2009, 05:06 am »
Hi All,

i had crackling noise from center speaker and i was experimenting it with changing the channels.. I have moved left speaker to middle channel. Today I had to paused the movie to take a call and suddenly i heard cracking noise from left speaker even though Oppo was on mute. (As a matter of fact through out the movie, there is a cracking noise coming from the left speaker..) I muted the Onkyo 885 and still no use,, the cracking noise continues.. I feel its the Amp.. Any ideas?

I just wanted to make sure, that its the amp before shipping it to Bryston.. And more over the original box is in shambles.. If at all i have to send it to bryston, do i need to buy another bryston box for 9b SST? thankx

Cm..

I switched the speakers and the noise is specific to the center channel of 9B SST.. Today i spoke to Dennis H from Bryston and asked me to send the module back to him with detailed instructions for packaging..

I couldnt think of anything other than the amp that could be causing problems.. But just in case, i also wanted to get other members feedback..

Now i need to search for a place where i could get the Square screw driver.. Thankx

Hi CM,

It sounded like you said you moved the center channel to the left side and then the left side started crackling?

The wording could be tricky.. I am not sure, i conveyed the meaning properly.

Bottom line, the center channel in the 9B SST is having problems and lets call it "CHANNEL".. To rule out the speakers having problem,, i connected Left to the CHANNEL.. Now left speaker started cracking..

I swiched the processor outputs alternating Left and Center.. In every case, the spaker connected to the CHANNEL is cracking..

Looks like i dont have an option but to send the CHANNEL to Bryston Service..
