I have owned my IM for about 2 weeks and have about 30 hours on it.  I've used both the 1/8" and the USB connection and started to notice a high pitched whine when connected via USB.  I am also using an aluminum MacBook Pro.  At first it was intermittent and tonight I can't seem to make it go away.  It makes the DAC completely unlistenable.  I'm willing to experiment and/or see if it goes away, but am not overly hopeful.  Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

If you have an iphone next to it, it will cause RFI from time to time.  This is widely reported online.
My iphone caused W-1 to make tee-tee-tee sound from time to time.

For my Icon Mobile, I have sort of figured out what is causing this and how to work around it.  It's the battery charging.

The work around is sort of stupid thought.  Just plug in your headphones to turn it on then plug it in to USB and it should light up the white USB activity light and not start charging.  Here's the stupid: sometimes if it's been sitting for a while and you do this it will got to Green charge light on before the USB sees it and so you'll have both one (which also happens if you don't plug in headphones first and then USB).  In this case just unplug it from USB and plug it back in again and you should only have the Blue and White light on, no more high pitch whining noise.  It's really odd though because the noise only happens when it's charging, but when it's charging it doesn't always happen...hopefully they will release some firmware updates on this.

Cheers!

My icon/s1 makes RFI noise when I get calls coming in. It seems to happen when there are signals coming in and out made from my iphone. Now my W-1 is another story. I can't even have it near it or it starts going crazy. So when I'm listening to music and I get a phone call or text, my w-1 starts making RFI noise.

To avoid I just keep phone a few reaches away and it seems to do the trick. Now to make it stop... I don't know... :(

We will look into the Icon Mobile charging while playing issue. May be it is a defective battery or charging circuit since only a few people reported this problem.

For the iPhone RFI issue, it is widely reported on the web. The RFI affects every audio devices. There is a widely used shielding solution using aluminum foil. I am sure you can find it with a search on the web.
