The Black Sand Silver Reference MK V power cord is another very good power cord that Chris(Lonewolf) uses and will give your Butler a shot of steriods across the full frequency spectrum, especially in the bass department. I would have gone with this power cord myself if I hadn't tried the Kubela cord.

Cheers,
Robin

Are you guys using surge protectors and/or line conditioners with your aftermarket cords?

For me....no...straight into the wall outlet.
I know Robin has all sorts of "tweaks"....and some of that magic fairy dust... :jester:

Cool...do you think having an in-line surge protector changes the effectiveness of the power cable? I have one Tripp-Lite protector for each circuit that my gear is plugged into.

If it works and I like it, I'll not only use magic fairy dust, I'll snort a line for prosperity. I use a 2400 watt BPT power conditioner for every power cord in my whole home theater system. This also includes too many tweaks (aka magic fairy dust) to do into detail about. I'm sure AJ you're not going to have your Butler cryogenically treated,,, that's part of the magic ya'know.

Cheers,
Robin

My personal opinion AJ,,,,  on surge protectors. Now if you're in a situation where protection is an absolute must have, there are better alternatives like the EP2000.

I don't know about the cryo part, but I know that Chris told me to talk to Phil about an upgrade that BK does for the 2250, and I'm strongly considering having Scott just ship the amp to Butler for the mod before having it shipped out here. Have you had the mod done, Robin?

HEY, be careful with that Phil character,,,, that's where I got turned onto the Kubela-Sosna Emotion PC and it cost me close to $2000! I was all ready to get a couple Black Sand PC's for less than 1/2 that but then I met Phil. :duh: And I'm glad I did. :thumb:

Other mods,,, well I took the rubber feet off mine and am using Audiopoints instead. I have a Quantum Disrupter(small) on top & over the transformer (outside the box EMI fighter) and on the inside between the transformer & IEC, I've installed an Audio Magic Pulse Gen ZX which fights inside the box EMI. I also use Isoclean fuses on the circuit boards (2 per board). And I had the whole amp cryoed.  :duh:

That's all I can think of on the spur of the moment.

Cheers,
Robin
